| Becoming a registered volunteer is easy, and there are many fun volunteer activities which you can get involved. Just remember you need to be at least 14 years of age to volunteer one-on-one, but there is no age requirement to members of a visiting group. Here are some of the meaningful and fun opportunities available to you: Recreation Aide - assists residents with swimming, dancing, leisure activities and fitness. Tutor - help resident students in reading and math or other subjects as needed. Music Therapy –help teach residents to enjoy music, play an instrument and/or sing. Pet Therapy – provide “people friendly” pets and opportunities for residents to interact with friendly pets. Friend – be a friend to a resident through serving as a resident advocate, or one-to-one friend/mentor. Event Volunteer – assist with special events and fundraisers such as the Holiday Tour of Lights, Santa’s Workshop Gift Drive, Spring and Fall Festivals as well as athletic sports events Pen Pal – write friendly, anonymous letters to residents Clerical – assist department staff with day-to-day office needs.
